Cardiac Appeal

Cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and strokes together, accounts for 42% of all mortality in adults.  These deaths are frequently premature and often preventable. CUH Charity is aiming to raise funds for a new essential piece of equipment to service our Cardiac Renal Unit  here in CUH – we are looking for your support to raise vital funds for a new Cardiac MRI Scanner, allowing state-of-the-art scanning and a  full Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CMR) service to be delivered to  patients experiencing heart related diseases or stroke, along with providing early screening to high risk patients.

Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is an advanced non-invasive imaging technique that can be used to assess why a heart is not working properly. It allows cardiac consultants to view the moving heart in high definition, from any angle, and without exposure to X-rays. It also enables medical teams to look at the composition of the heart muscle and identify areas of scarring due to conditions such as heart attacks or heart muscle disorders.

Vitally, Cardiac MRI imaging can drastically improve the quality of care provided to patients experiencing heart-related diseases or stroke at CUH  and also screen for evidence of inherited conditions. Your donation, no matter how small or big, will ensure that we can continue to deliver first-class cardiac care and services to service our region of up to 1.5 million people.
