A Heartfelt Celebration: 40 Years of Cardiac Excellence
We welcomed over 380 guests to the beautiful Cork Vienna Woods as we celebrated a remarkable milestone: 40 years of cardiac surgery at Cork University Hospital!
Did you know our cardiac surgery services started thanks to a vital donation from Ford in 1985? That generosity made a profound difference then, laying the foundation for four decades of life-saving care. And that’s the heart of our mission: donations still make an immense difference today and will continue to shape the future of care.
The Gala Ball had an important new element this year celebrating the human spirit, as we proudly introduced the first-ever CUH Charity Awards. We honoured Mary Coleman and Martha O’ Mahony as our ‘Healthcare Worker of the Year,’ and Fiona O’Keefe and Ger Venner ‘The Pink Ladies’ as our ‘Charity Person of the Year’, all nominated by you, our incredible community.
CUH Charity truly belongs to CUH and CUMH, and in turn, they belong to you. You are there for us when we need you, and our hospitals are there for you when you need them. What a wonderful community we are a part of!
