At this year’s annual CUH Charity Gala Ball we have a series of awards to highlight the phenomenal work of the CUH Community. See below our list of amazing winners!
Members of the public submitted nominations, and shortlisted nominees were selected by a panel of individuals closely involved with CUH and CUH Charity, Peter Horgan (Cork City Council), Claire Kenny (Radiology CUH) and Niall Hartnett (CUH Charity Board).
Charity Person of the Year Winners
Fiona O’Keefe and Ger Venner
Fiona O’Keefe and Ger Venner took part in the challenge of cycling from Cork to Paris last May to raise money for Breast Cancer in CUH. The duo put on an informative luncheon on women’s health for the cause which was extremely close to both of their hearts. “Geraldine and Fiona are more than fundraisers – they are ambassadors, and their commitment to saving and changing lives continues to inspire everyone around them”.
Healthcare Worker of the Year
Mary Coleman & Martha O’Mahony
Mary and Martha work in the Catering Department of the Children’s Emergency Department. Mary and Martha not only provide meals to the Children’s Emergency Department but are an integral part of every child’s care that presents to CUH ED and to the staff of CUH. “Never in my life have I seen someone that does their work with so much love and gusto”. “They are the heart and soul of the department working hard behind the scenes”.
