Helping Children with Epilepsy: Home Video-EEG Telemetry Equipment

CUH Charity is proud to support the purchase of Home Video-EEG telemetry equipment—a vital tool that will transform how epilepsy is diagnosed in children in CUH.

Epilepsy can be difficult to diagnose accurately, especially in a hospital setting where children may feel anxious or behave differently. This equipment changes that. It allows children to be monitored in the comfort of their own home, providing doctors with the most accurate information possible.

How does it work?
Children visit the hospital to have EEG leads attached. They then bring the equipment home for 24–48 hours, where both video and EEG data are recorded during their normal daily routine. When the equipment is returned, specialists analyse the recordings to confirm whether seizures are occurring and what type they are – ensuring the right treatment and medication.

Why is this important?

  • Hospitals can feel unfamiliar and stressful for children, which can lead to inaccurate results.
  • Monitoring at home means children are relaxed, and the data reflects their real-life experiences.
  • This equipment will benefit over 300 young patients, helping them receive a more accurate diagnoses and better care.

Your support makes this possible. Together, we can give children with epilepsy the best chance for a healthy future.
